Waikato Regional Council have created a new Climate Action Committee as a standing committee of Council. It will be chaired by Jennifer Nickel, with myself as Deputy Chair. The committee will drive action on climate change to reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the region, and to tackle adaptation to climate change.
Greater Wellington Regional Council may be still thinking about setting up a climate change standing committee, but Waikato Regional Council have already done it!
